Fasting on Ashura
Fasting on the Day of Ashura is a Sunnah, and it is recommended to fast the day before (Tasu’a) or the day after. On the calendar, that means Monday June 14 and Tuesday June 15, 2027, or Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Hijri year is lunar, about 354 or 355 days long, which is why Islamic occasions move about 11 days earlier on the Gregorian calendar each year.
